These are the three founders of Sagres Natura, Sara, Luis and Celso. Unfortunately Luis is not amongst us anymore, but his beautiful spirit and passion for Surf and for people will always live on in Sagres. We are thankful for having been able to do this adventure and create Sagres Natura together, to realize this dream of ours to have our own Surf Camp, School and Shop and we are full of passion for it and love what we do.

We share the same spirit for surfing, adventure and travelling and we love being in the nature. Our specialist areas are surfing, tourism and sports science and between all of us, we can speak Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and German.

“The ocean, beach and nature make part of my life, I cannot live in a city. My father was a fisherman and we lived in Sagres, surrounded by the Atlantic, so my connection has always been with the sea. When I started bodyboard I had no fear, no hesitation, it felt from the beginning like it was ‘my natural’ and it was important for me to do.”
Right after finishing school, Sara studied Tourism and Animation in the Natural Park, then went straight to work in tourism, first in the west Algarve and then in Alentejo. Always close to the west coast, the nature and the surf.
After opening the surf school in 2003, it was the obvious next step to combine surfing with hospitality and start the surf camp. And where better than in the very beautiful and most southwesterly corner of Europe, in their home town. And so the Sagres Natura Surf Company was founded; with the surf school run by Luis, the shop by Celso, and Sara managing the camp. Working with people and making them feel comfortable and at home is one of the things Sara loves most to do.
In 2019 Sara decided to make the Surf Instructor Course to get more in touch with the Surf School too and in this process she discovered an unknown passion and talent of hers – to work as a Surf Instructor. In order to improve her surfing skills and evolve as an instructor she travelled to Brazil in the end of 2019 to train with Luan Medeiros. In doing so, she followed the steps of her brother Luis, who was a really passionate surfer and instructor too.
“It makes sense to be in business that fits to your life… surf, music, fashion, coast, nature, tourism.. this is all that I grew up with, it’s my life.”
Celso grew up in Vila Nova de Milfontes, in the Alentejo, so his life was always by the sea, with his family having history of making a living connected with the ocean – fishing and tourism.
He joined the partnership with Sara and Luis when the surf school expanded to become the Sagres Natura Surf Company – with the addition of the surf camp and surf shop.
With his passion for fashion and music equal to his love for the surf, it was very easy to choose the surf shop as his specialist area for the business. And to include all his interests, being the Friday night BBQ Surf Party DJ brings music into the mixture for the perfect combination of business and lifestyle.

Meet Luan Medeiros, native of Praia de Pipa, Co-Owner of the No Worries Surf Camp and Hotel and seasonal Surf Instructor for the Sagres Natura Surf Camp and School. He started surfing when he was 9 years old thanks to a tourist who gifted his brother with a surf board and since then he never really left the waters.
He participated in both regional and nacional Surf Events, representing Rio Grande do Norte and surfed next to todays World Champions of Surf. During this time he has achieved 26 victories, besides entering into finals countles of times.
When he was 23 years old he decided to stop competing in contests and instead focus on building a Surf School and Camp in Pipa, his beloved hometown, to teach the fascinating sport of Surf to other people and share his passion. He also worked as a Surf Instructor for the Sagres Natura Surf Camp for several seasons and that is where his friendship and business connection with Sara and Celso started. The aim of this new partnership is, to connect the maximum of people who are passionate about surfing and to offer great conditions for Surf Holidays all over the world.
